REFIRME – ELOS SKIN TIGHTENING TREATMENT
This skin tightening procedure heats the dermis layer of the skin with infrared light at a depth of 1 to 2 mm below the skin’s surface and extends the heating depth an additional 1 to 4 mm with bipolar radiofrequency. Collagen fibers in the dermis immediately contract.
- You will feel tighter and firmer skin.
- Skin Tightening will also stimulate collagen synthesis. Thus, you will continue to see improvement in the next 3-6 months when your body makes more collagen.
- Most patients require 3 to 5 sessions, spaced about every 3 to 4 weeks. More sessions may be needed for aged skin.
- The procedure is well tolerated, and no anesthesia is required. It feels like rubber band snaps.
You can resume your normal activity immediately after the treatment.

How can Refirme help you?
Refirme or Skin Tightening Treatment will stimulate collagen synthesis. This process continues over a 3 to 6 month period during which you can continue to see improvement as your body makes more collagen.
How does it work?
This skin tightening procedure heats the dermis layer of the skin with infrared light at a depth of 1 to 2 mm below the skin’s surface and extends the heating depth an additional 1 to 4 mm with bipolar radiofrequency. Collagen fibers in the dermis immediately contract. Most patients derive maximal benefits from 3 to 5 treatments spaced about every 3 to 4 weeks.
What can you expect during your treatment?
A numbing cream will be applied to your skin. Please come in 30 minutes before your treatment for the application of the cream. Your face will be cleaned. Clear ultrasonic gel will be applied. During the treatment you will feel a rubber band snap and some heat. Afterwards you may have some redness that will dissipate within an hour or so. There is no downtime.
What areas can be treated?
Face and any body part where you want skin tightening.
What do I need to do to prepare for a Refirme treatment?
Please avoid tanning the area to be treated. If you do go out in the sun, use complete sun block (>SPF), applied 2 to 3 times a day for at least 3 weeks prior to your treatment. Deeply tanned skin should be treated 4 to 6 weeks after active sun exposure. Schedule your treatments when you are not having your menstrual period as some women experience more pain with this treatment during their menstrual periods.
For 7 days before treatment, avoid taking anticoagulants (including baby aspirin, Advil, Motrin, ibuprofen, flax, fish oil and extra vitamin C and E). However, if you have been prescribed an anticoagulant (such as heparin or warfarin, Naprosyn, or any other blood thinner), then you must get permission from your treating doctor to have the treatment.
For 2 to 3 days prior to treatment, discontinue any irritant topical agents, such as alpha-hydroxy acids, beta-hydroxy acids, glycolic acids, resorcinol, and retinoic acid.
If possible, arrive with clean skin. There should be no lotion, sunscreen, make-up, perfume, powder, bath or shower oil, or deodorant present on the skin area to be treated. Your skin should be clean. If you do come in with something on your skin, please inform us, so we may clean your skin prior to the treatment. The treatment needs to penetrate the skin, so lotions such as sunscreen and make-up will block the light and then you will have a less effective treatment.
Are there any specific after treatment instructions?
There is nothing special you need to do. There is absolutely no downtime, and you can resume your normal activities.
